A young woman was telling me recently about sound: recording it, editing it, using it to tell a story. While silent, photographs can evoke sound through associations and knowledge, memory and stories. They offer an invitation to imagine. The laugh of a joke, the rush of a river, or the complete quiet of a path through woods dampened with snow.
